Come join the fun HR team at Roanoke College – the 2022 Salem Large Business of the Year! This position is primarily responsible for creating and maintaining employee records of our student workers. We are looking for someone who is friendly and helpful, creating a positive and encouraging onboarding experience to what is often a student’s first job. As a full service human resource department, serving our retirees and helping manage their post-retirement benefits is also a responsibility. Other duties include overseeing our applicant tracking system, onboarding temporary staff and volunteers, and planning department events. Since this position serves as the receptionist for the department, applicants must be able to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
Candidates should have some experience in human resources, excellent communication skills, outstanding customer service skills, and computer proficiency including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Candidates with experience in Colleague HRIS preferred. This position contributes expertise in the areas of student employment, background checks, recruiting, employment verifications, service awards, and employee events. This is an hourly position with full college benefits that includes generous paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition remission. Schedule is 8 – 4:30, Monday – Friday. Hiring pay range is $17 - $20 per hour.
