How You'll Help Transform Healthcare:
Provide more than general support for Revenue Cycle accounts receivable function within multiple third-party payors/teams. Maintains a high working knowledge of multiple payors and those responsibilities. Follow HIPAA requirements to protect patient health information. Work in a fast paced, ever-changing workplace. Located in an office environment. The role has quality and production requirements with quality reviews in place. This postion requires detailed analysis, decision making, and critical thinking to resolve claims problems. Support those in the Medical Billing Analyst I role.
**Remote Work Optional After Completion of On-site Training** (training may be upwards of 3+ months in Roanoke, VA)
- Applies an in-depth knowledge of multiple payors. Understands all billing requirements and government regulations. Keeps knowledge current on procedures to resolve problems related to outstanding claims.
- Recognizes the various timeframe requirements as assigned by the payer. Acts as a secondary line of defense against potential timely filing losses including filing written 1st, 2nd, and 3rd level appeal to maximize cash flow and mitigate bad debt, having a clear understanding of payer needs for account resolution.
- Independently identify and perform root cause analysis of complicated accounts to evaluate, diagnose, and adjudicate accounts.
- Continuously develop knowledge of all aspects of the Revenue Cycle including Patient Access, Authorization, UM, Charge capture, coding and medical terminology, billing, appeals, customer service, and self-pay collections, while understanding their interaction with the department.
- Leads complex project assignments and provides updates to the Manager.
- Monitors and reports on accounts receivable balances that include at-risk or high-dollar accounts. Applies aggressive collection techniques to resolve accounts.
- Quickly responds to customer service inquiries in an accurate and concise response. Documents all information for retrieval by others.
- Adheres to all departmental policies and procedures.
- Interpersonal skills working with internal and external customers. Applicable knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and Modifiers. Understanding of Revenue, Occurrence, and Condition code(s) application on UB claims. A clear understanding of electronic and paper claims requirements for payers. Provide the highest level of Customer Service. Effective investigation to reduce barriers to optimal reimbursement from third-party payers. Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision. Ability to concisely report trends identified that create barriers to reimbursement and timely adjudication. A high level of accountability is required.
Mon - Fri 8:00am-4:30pm Overtime as needed
What We Require:
Education : High School graduate required (or equivalent); some college education preferred.
Experience : 3-5 years of experience in related field. Epic experience desired.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Proficient in approved application/software required within 6-12 months of position start date.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Effective communication, analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Requires excellent hearing, clear/concise speech, excellent finger dexterity to operate computer terminal/keyboarding as well as use of a calculator. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills. Excellent documentation and follow-up skills required.
