Paraprofessionals whose duties include instructional support must meet one of the following options:
1. Have completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (60 semester hours);
2. Have obtained an associate's (or higher) degree; or
3. Have demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading readiness,writing readiness, and mathematics readiness) by passing the Parapro assessment. The applicant must be able to lift 30 lbs. The position might be working with special education or regular education students.
