Building on its history of innovation, Carpenter’s wrought and powder technology capabilities support a range of next-generation products and manufacturing techniques, including novel magnetic materials and additive manufacturing.PRODUCTION MANAGER- BAR FINISHPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES for the Production ManagerManage the manufacturing activities in the Bar Finishing Area.Responsible for developing goals and objectives for the department that are aligned with those of the larger Reading manufacturing organization.Develop, define, and lead the implementation of plans, actions, and measurements to meet department goals.Measure and evaluate execution of the plans and make appropriate adjustments to meet the aligned goals and objectives.Maintain and improve the knowledge base of the existing manufacturing systems including the computer systems, hot working processes, material flow and handling schemes, quality systems, and process control techniques.Identify, research and drive the implementation of improvement opportunities and work with supporting resources to realize these improvements opportunities.Drive and own departmental OEE results through cross-departmental collaboration to achieve production targets, quality performance targets and equipment availability.Evaluate and recommend new equipment, new processes or maintenance technologies.Define and communicate performance expectations for staff and coach and counsel them in the performance of job responsibilities.Communicate monthly departmental results.Develop and manage departmental budgets.Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.REQUIREMENTS for the Production ManagerFour-year college degree, preferable in engineering, business or metallurgy.8 or more years of experience at a production manager level.Finishing experience preferred.Experience with developing and management budgets, implementing and driving goals within the department and evaluating and recommending new equipment and processes through lean manufacturing.Requires strong written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire, motivate and influence others.Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment.Carpenter Technology Company offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including life, medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, disability coverage, 401k with company contributions as well as many other options to employees.Carpenter Technology Corporation’s policy is to fully and effectively maintain a program of equal employment opportunity and nondiscrimination for all employees, to employ affirmative action for all protected classes, and to recruit and develop the best qualified persons available regardless of age, race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, marital status, national origin, political affiliation or any other characteristic protected by law.
