JOB TITLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR PACKAGING OVERNIGHT SHIFT
Job Summary : The Shift Supervisor Packaging position is an hourly, full-time, entry level managerial position within the Packaging department. The Shift Supervisor position is responsible for achieving Packaging departmental goals as set forth by management and for maintaining strong daily communication with the Packaging Manager. The qualified applicant must possess a minimum of the following skills, knowledge and experience and have all the requisite skills of a Machine Operator II. The incumbent will report directly to the Packaging Manager.
As a condition of employment, this position will work a dedicated, overnight shift from 10:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. and that may include extended shifts, weekends and holidays.
Essential Job Functions :
• A demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in a multi-faceted TEAM environment.
• Ability to accurately write relevant packaging SOPs and understanding of specific packaging terminologies.
• Actively participate in the development and ongoing training needs for process improvement. Responsible for training new hires to SOPs without deviation.
• Forecast scheduling needs, on-hand & future needs for packaging materials and personnel both weekly and several weeks out based upon the operational needs of the Packaging department.
• Demonstrated ability to operate all Packaging department manual and computer automated equipment while maintaining quality standards.
• Maintaining detailed and accurate daily and weekly operations reports and submit to the Packaging Manager by communicated deadlines.
• Perform weekly inventory reports and submit to the Packaging Manager every Monday.
• Full understanding of how the keg line operates and able to trouble shoot any problems on it as they arise.
• Identify and direct designated staff to correct maintenance issues on all Packaging departmental machinery.
• Continually investigate current departmental procedures and best practices for improvement and recommend changes.
• Follow all company policies & procedures, always reflect organizational core values and strive to maintain a clean and safe working environment. Practice safe work methods and comply with wearing and using the proper PPE 100% of the time on the floor.
• Adhere to, promote and hold direct reports accountable to all Company policies, at all times .
• In coordination with Human Resources, direct training and development opportunities for staff and performance evaluations of all supervised employees.
• Assist Packaging Instrumentation & Controls Technicians in performing select maintenance on departmental machinery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skill Requirements :
Graduation from an accredited high school and relevant work experience with a minimum of 1-2 years experience. The candidate should possess a strong understanding of all areas of Packaging and of manufacturing best practices.
Applicants, without an accommodation, must have the ability to frequently reach, twist, stoop, bend, crouch, stand and walk for 8-12 hour shifts. Applicants may be required to work overtime as necessary. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. repeatedly and maneuver up to 180lb kegs.
As a condition of employment, this position involves working rotating shifts, that includes nights and weekends, and applicants must be able to do so without an accommodation.
Applicants must be able to wear personal protective equipment and work in varying weather conditions that includes humidity and seasonal temperature changes.
Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and able to pass a comprehensive background check in line with Company policy.
Candidates must be proficient in MS Office software including Excel and Word.
Preferred Qualifications : Previous experience as either a Shift Supervisor Packaging, Packaging Supervisor, Manufacturing Team Lead, Line Supervisor or similar entry level managerial role in a similar sized or larger brewery or manufacturing company.
