Workers Compensation Claims Examiner
Position Summary:
The role of the Worker’s Compensation Examiner is to investigate, evaluate, and resolve workers’ compensation claims for associate’s injured on the job.
Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the review and investigation of all new work-related injuries or illnesses, for a given territory, for cause and severity.
• Provide guidance to injured workers, field operations, claims adjusters, legal counsel, human resources and safety on Penske policies in regard to workers’ compensation insurance regulation.
• Evaluate pending claims for settlement and reserving purposes and monitor and direct TPA and Defense attorneys in all claims and litigated claims to protect Penske's interest.
• Cooperate with Human Resources to ensure compliance with HR policies.
• Provide risk management services when safety or trending issues warrant.
• Other projects and tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
• 3-5 years’ experience in workers' compensation claims or related field.
• High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor's degree preferred
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Self-Motivated with the ability to work unsupervised
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to make fact-based decisions in a timely manner.
• Ability to train/educate others either in person, over the phone, or using webinars
• Computer skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, RMIS, Workflow systems, and Internet research.
• Ability to multitask required.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
