Classification Title Post-Doctoral Associate AD FLSA Exempt UGA Job Code FTE 1.00 Minimum Qualifications Position Summary
This position will involve a combination of practical and research activities focused on building capacity for evaluation of teaching. The postdoctoral associate will gain experience in faculty development, evidence-based methods for teaching evaluation, ethical uses of student data to improve instruction, and social science research methods, as well as theory and practice related to institutional change. The postdoctoral associate will be able to shape the direction of their research with mentorship from and in collaboration with the project team. The postdoctoral associate will have opportunities to interact with a vibrant group of faculty, other postdoctoral associates, graduate and undergraduate researchers, and professional staff as part of the Biology Education Research Group (BERG) and Scientists Engaged in Education Research (SEER) Center at University of Georgia, with an option to gain college-level teaching experience in a discipline of interest.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position
Candidates must have: (a) a Ph.D. in a STEM, STEM education, or other relevant social science discipline (e.g., higher education, organizational psychology, evaluation, etc.); (b) a record of peer-reviewed publication; © demonstrated interest in educational evaluation or discipline-based education research; (d) demonstrated interest in facilitating professional development for current or future faculty; and (e) demonstrated capacity to manage projects, including collecting and analyzing data and disseminating results.
Preferred qualifications include familiarity with teaching evaluation, knowledge of theory and practices related to institutional change, familiarity with using multiple data sources to improve instruction, experience coaching or consulting with faculty and/or administrators, and capacity to work effectively in diverse, cross-rank, cross-disciplinary, and cross-institutional teams.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities include being able to:
* Collaborate in designing, implementing, and refining professional development, coaching, and consultation
* Design, conduct, and disseminate original research in the social sciences
* Manage a multi-faceted project that involves both research and practical elements
* Work collaboratively across natural and social science disciplines
* Write papers for publication in peer-reviewed journals
Mentor small teams of undergraduate research assistants
