Dock Supervisor (2nd Shift)US Logistics Solutions is looking for a capable and dedicated individual to work as a Dock Supervisor. The qualified candidate will coordinate all activities of dockworkers on a manual small package / retail sort distribution system. The supervisor will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with the timely, damage-free, and safe loading/unloading of freight on assigned shifts supporting both company and customer KPI's. In addition, the supervisor will provide dockworker training, and performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary. Previous experience with the small package or retail sort operation is mandatory. Frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight, up to 50 lbs., are required.Core Responsibilities & Duties:Ensure all dock and yard work is performed according to USLSOL approved procedures, standards, and specifications for sort operations.Ensure that production levels are planned and met for continuous improvement. Directly supervise, coach, train, mentor, and provide feedback and accountability on all activities of dockworkers engaged in loading, palletizing, and unloading trailersAssign job tasks to workers according to unloading and loading schedulesMaintain appropriate load plansCoordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job dutiesProvide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customersFoster safe handling, loading, unloading, and storage as provided by the Department of TransportationOther duties as assignedQualifications:Must have management experience (3-5 years preferred), in a high-volume, fast distribution environmentPrevious Retail sort experience (UPS or FedEx Ground) is a plusBachelor's degree or higher in Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering preferredInterest in long-term career development through assignments in multiple facilities across the nationAbility to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situationsMust possess demonstrated leadership abilityKnowledge of proper freight handling techniquesMust be 18 or olderAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of operationsKnowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulationsExperience with a contingent workforce during peak seasonsMust be able to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) poundsSkills:The ideal candidate will possess a "can do" attitude with a "will do" work ethicMust have the ability to work in a fast-paced environmentHave strong time management skills and the ability to work well under pressureAbility to communicate effectively with all levels of operationsStrong team player that thrives in a fast-paced environmentGeneral computer skills - Microsoft Office, OutlookExcellent communication and problem-solving skillsIndustry-leading benefits packagePaid holidays & vacation
