The Senior Director, Technical Program Management for Card Tech will be responsible for defining and delivering programs with significant complexity that have broad cross-organizational impact. As part of the Card Core team, you should be excited about building extensible user experiences, services (SaaS, Web etc.) & APIs. You should also be comfortable partnering with other teams to take your platform to the next level.
This role requires a true customer focus (on users, developers and stakeholders), ensuring alignment on platform adoption and onboarding. A deep technical understanding of software engineering best practices, cloud infrastructure, batch and real-time data, machine learning, and the platform-as-a-service operating model is vital. This role requires organizational and people leadership, effective communication, and program management skills, and will partner with all levels of leadership and will build consensus by communicating complex decisions and tough trade-offs towards a north star Card Tech roadmap.
Key Accountabilities:
• Build and lead a world-class team with a mission to power real-time, intelligent experiences for our customers and associates.
• Scale the organization to support a key initiative at Capital One. Serve as an evangelist for the TPM function at Capital One, both internally and externally.
• Manage programs related to development, deployment and operation of our world-class platforms, services and infrastructure that are always available, reliable and secure while adhering to Capital Ones platform governance standards, and meeting the growing demand and feature needs of machine learning use cases across our Card Technology organization.
In this role, you will:
• Partner with appropriate stakeholders across the company to assess software and architectural complexity, estimate data and infrastructure needs, plan capacity, develop program plans and timelines for ongoing and future platform migration and onboarding waves. You will think holistically about technical initiatives and partner with product, engineering, and design teams to think through all business requirements, capabilities needed, and dependencies to be resolved.
• Work with teams to set program milestones and communicate risks, progress, and launch readiness across all stakeholders and teams. You are able to identify potential technical risks and facilitate discussions to surface and plan mitigation strategies.
• Lead technology-focused discussions with senior leadership by providing valuable insights and recommendations that guide technology decisions.
• Drive internal process improvements using data, feedback, and retrospectives.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree
• At least 9 years of technical program management experience
• At least 1 year of software or data engineering experience
Preferred Qualifications:
• MBA or Masters Degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Software Engineering)
• 10+ years of technical program management experience
• 5+ years of experience building scalable products and platforms
• 5+ years of experience with Agile delivery

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Location is New York City: $267,300 - $305,100 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management Location is San Francisco, California: $283,100 - $323,100 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management Remote roles in other areas of New York & California, and across Colorado & Washington: $226,500 - $258,500 for Sr. Director, Technical Program Management
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidates offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
