Ph.D. in agronomy, crop physiology, crop management, or closely related field.
Position Summary
The individual will develop a research program that focuses on the physiological and agronomic basis of crop response to production environment and management. Research should focus on major row crops and specialty crops with the objective of improving crop production in Georgia. Possible research emphasis areas include, but are not limited to: crop growth and development, yield component contributions to crop yields, environmental stress physiology, and the application of crop physiology to nutrient, irrigation, and weed management. The individual will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses to educate students on fundamental aspects of agronomy and physiology. In addition to leading nationally recognized research program, collaboration with other research and extension faculty members, industry, and commodity groups is expected. The successful candidate will publish in peer-reviewed journals, secure extramural research support from a diversity of sources, and have a strong presence in graduate student research and education. Program emphasis should be responsive to the needs of the industry and State.
Additional Requirements Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
* Expertise in major crops of Georgia is desirable but not essential.
* Expertise in environmental stress physiology and ability to work with plant breeders to screen and identify traits that can be used to improve crop yields and productivity will be beneficial.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
* The ability to attract extramural funding from grant agencies and industry is expected.
* Candidates should have demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, interpersonal relationships, and the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues.

Percentage Of Time 75 Duties/Responsibilities
The individual will teach undergraduate and graduate level courses to educate students on fundamental aspects of agronomy and physiology. Additional courses may be developed or assigned based on candidate expertise and department curriculum need. The individual is expected to be involved in graduate student education as a committee member and as a major advisor.
