Medical Assistant - Strategic
1. Medical Records
a. Maintains consumer medical records, which includes keeping records up to date, aiding in quality enhancement procedures, gleaning of the charts, and storing the gleaned charts in year order.
b. Performs chart audits as directed by Senior Director and assists with resolving discrepancies.
c. Assists VP, Senior Director, Residential Coordinator, and ARDs in preparing for surveys and billing reviews (Medicaid, DDID, CARF, etc.).
d. Assists with end of the month (EOM) paperwork and reports any missing paperwork by the 5th day of every month.
e. Facilitates communication with case management agencies to address discrepancies with chart documentation.
2. Client Care
a. Interacts appropriately with individuals and treats them with dignity and respect.
b. Field calls from DSPs during medical appointments when additional information is necessary.
3. Assistance of PHA
a. Maintains list of HRST due dates, coordinates with PHA to prioritize HRSTs by due date and need, and assists with completion of HRST updates.
b. Assists with medication checks and monitoring of monthly MARs for discrepancies.
c. Assists with resolving discrepancies in medication documentation.
d. Assists with the creation and maintenance of medication training sheets and OCT/PRN orders.
4. Administrative Duties
a. Works as a team member with co-workers and supervisors.
b. Adheres to policy and procedures of the agency.
c. Assists with maintaining personnel files.
d. Assists PHA with the distribution of new or updated prescriptions to ADTs, ARDs, Pharmacy, Case Managers, and client charts.
e. Sends ABC charts and expense sheets to Case Managers.
f. Ensures vision, dental, and physical exams are uploaded to MWMA in coordination with ARDs.
g. Assists PHA in maintaining client appointment calendar.
h. Assists PHA with preparing and making appointment notifications for staff in coordination with ARDs.
5. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED.
AND
- Graduate of Medical Assistant program OR Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with Current Certification preferred.
- Proficiency in measuring and recording vital signs/weights required.
- State Certification/Registration and BLS.
- Minimum of one year experience working with adults diagnosed with intellectual/physical disabilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to provide safe and reliable transportation
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to learn and use basic computer programs and electronic health records
