Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This is a Lab Technician position in the EHS DNA laboratory. The primary duties will be associated with DNA sequencing services as well as general lab duties. The Lab Tech will perform experiments, interpret results, adjust procedures if needed, assist with the technical design of projects, and may supervise students. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for:
• Building and assessing the quality of Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, and PacBio Sequencing Libraries.
• Sequencing data quality assessment and distribution.
• Answer inquiries from routine customer service calls regarding experiment design and troubleshooting.
• Assist in other EHS DNA lab services such as RADSeq, QC, and DNA extraction.
• General laboratory tasks (equipment maintenance, lab organization, MSDS and training record keeping).
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Degree or laboratory training in a biological field.
• Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, including but not limited DNA and RNA extraction, PCR , ligation, DNA sequencing.
• Experience preparing Next generation sequencing libraries.
• Basic knowledge of Linux and bioinformatics are a plus.
• Strong organization skills, attention to details, and ability to maintain thorough documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in an interactive team environment.

• Preparing sequencing libraries for Illumina and Oxford Nanopore Sequencing.
• Operating Illumina and Oxford Nanopore sequencing platforms.

• Distributing Sequencing data to customers.
