JOB TITLE:  Fine Arts Coordinator
REPORTS TO:  Chief Academic Officer
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor/Master of Music Education Degree or Bachelor/Master of Fine and Performing Arts Degree
• Applicants must show college coursework or alternate comprehensive experiences in all four art forms (music, art, drama and dance)
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists in providing technical support to all schools in the district based upon individual school goals and needs, including research, assistance in curriculum and instructional issues, interpretation and/or development of policy, access to human and physical resources, and staff development.
• Maintains knowledge of current statutes, policies, guidelines, regulations, trends, and research that affect the instructional program, and assists schools in remaining current on such information.
• Facilitates the planning, development, and implementation of instructional programs (curriculum) in the Fine Arts areas of music, art, drama, and dance.
• Plans, schedules, and coordinates community arts performances with our Arts Partners; facilitates county-wide arts performances and events for students and staff, i.e. OPS Fine Arts Festival.
• Prepares and keeps accounting for the budget designated for fine arts instructional improvement.
• Provides technical assistance to the personnel department for the staffing fine arts positions, and is available to provide the same technical assistance to principals.
• Develops and coordinates in-service programs for fine arts teachers.
• Schedules itinerant instrumental music staff; assists in the development of elementary art, PE and music teacher assignments.
• Develops specifications and standards for bids, and issues purchase orders for the procurement of musical instruments and equipment; instructional materials and supplies as requested for the Fine Arts area.
• Helps maintain inventory of musical instruments in cooperation with individual schools.
• Maintains an arts resource center that provides information concerning materials, supplies, events, and research pertaining to the arts.
• Works in cooperation with principals, staff, and SBDM councils to establish procedures to be observed in the operation of fine arts programs.
• Makes frequent school visits, meets with arts teachers on a regular basis; serves as chairperson for arts meetings, prepares and disseminates minutes of staff meetings.
• Attends School Board and community meetings upon request, to serve as a liaison, and to participate in deliberations about arts events and policies regarding the fine arts.
• Works in cooperation with fine arts staff, principals, and others in scheduling school participation in community services, activities, exhibits, festivals, and contests.
• Serves as a Central Office liaison to a designated school, providing a communication link between school and district personnel.
• Serves on various state, district, and community committees as requested, as approved by the Superintendent.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor, environmentally controlled.  Typical office environment including but not limited to telephones, personal interruptions, background noises.  May require working with or near the public, parents, and children and will be subject to sounds, scents, and other related environmental factors.  This position will require dealing with conflict and requires use of sound judgment.

EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Certified Evaluation Plan.  The evaluation will be conducted by the Chief Academic Officer.
