Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The Program Manager for Safety will report to the SREL Associate Director for Research to ensure proper safety protocol at SREL . The incumbent will serve as a liaison to DOE and SRNL with respect to health and safety at SREL . This position also will serve as the subject matter expert for all aspects of radiological research safety necessary to conduct radioecology research on the Savannah River Site.

Duties/Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate work tasks for two environmental safety coordinators. Coordinate with SREL Management to review and revise SREL safety and compliance issues annually and as required. Oversee monthly meetings with SREL safety staff to remain current on emerging SREL safety related issues and to assist in managing ongoing compliance issues and corrective actions. Serve as a liaison to DOE and SRNL with respect to health and safety at SREL .

Serve as advisory authority and technical expert for questions, interpretations, training, and guidance regarding the SREL Radiation Protection Implementation Policy ( SREL - RPIP ) and laboratory procedures conducted in the BioRad Laboratory. Serve as advisory authority and technical expert for the SREL field program conducted in Soil Contamination Areas (SCAs), including tracking and reporting of Radiation Training (Rad 1, Rad 2, Advanced Radworker) needed for entry into SCAs.

Coordinate characterization and disposal of existing legacy radiological wastes (requires interface with SRNS RPD , Health Physics, SRNS Sampling Group, and SRNS GCO /Solid Waste Group)
and Green-Is-Clean and Radiological Waste disposal for SREL Radiological Worker Areas.

Duties/Responsibilities
Liaison Specific Duties Include: Coordinate dosimetry ( TLD Exchanges) with SRNS RPD ; Manage Sealed Radioactive Sources inventories and coordinate biannual inspections and leak testing with SRNS RPD ; provide for internal SREL personnel training in use of sealed sources; maintain contact information and postings for source storage or use areas; maintain SREL entries of sources in site source database; Manage Radiation Generating Devices and coordinate bi-annual inspections and leak testing with SRNS RPD ; maintain contact information and postings for RGDs; maintain SREL entries of RGDs in site RGD database; Manage Radiation Monitoring equipment assigned to SREL and coordinate calibrations with SRNS RPD and Calibrations facility; Generate task preview documents for planned non-research radiological work and review task preview documents for research related radiological work. Perform pre-job briefings for non-research radiological work (i.e. waste handling, lab cleanouts, waste sampling, movement of LoDIF sources) and act as backup for research related pre-job briefings as required; Provide primary interface on radiological compliance issues with SRNS RPD Support Groups, including procedures and issues associated with the SREL Radiation Protection Implementation Policy ( SREL - RPIP ).
