Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
This incumbent will be responsible for administration and oversight of research support programs at the Savannah River Ecology Lab and involves a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory and operational requirements for SREL staff to conduct research activities on the Savannah River Site. The Program Manager for Research Support will report to the SREL Associate Director for Research to ensure that all appropriate permitting, oversight, reporting, and coordination activities are in place for research activities conducted by SREL personnel and visiting scholars. Duties include responsibility for 1) coordinating animal use procedures and permitting, and chairing the SREL Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ); 2) coordinating SREL's reporting and permitting requirements for state and federal wildlife scientific collecting and banding permits; 3) supervision of staff that manage SREL's site use and environmental compliance issues, SREL's Set Aside management and research programs, and SREL's data archiving program; and 4) preparation of annual reports for DOE in coordination with the SREL Associate Director for Research. Specific duties are separated below into core competency areas but are subject to modification at the Director's discretion as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities
• Serve as chair of the SREL IACUC committee and a liaison with on-campus UGA IACUC staff to maintain SREL compliance with appropriate animal care and use standards and inspections of SREL animal facilities.
• Assist laboratory management with development and compliance for any corrective actions required by UGA or DOE with regard to animal research and host on-campus UGA IACUC staff for periodic inspections of SREL facilities.
• Also serves as the subject matter expert for UGA IACUC requirements for vertebrate animal research for SREL staff.

• Coordinate the annual preparation of reports and permitting applications / modifications for SREL's SCDNR and GADNR Scientific Collecting Permits as well as permit applications/modifications for SREL's Federal Bird Banding Permit and Federal Scientific Collecting Permit and reporting to DOE for bird collections at SRS .
