Full Job Description Who we are: Girls Club focuses on educational and recreational activities for girls age 4-14 that build self-confidence, encourage education achievement, and promote healthy lifestyles. To accomplish this, Girls Club curriculum includes reading lessons, career discovery, job training skills, nutrition education, financial literacy, and traditional camp activities.
Reports to: YWCO CEO
Purpose: The Girls Club Director is part of the YWCO Administrative team. The Girls Club Director oversees the day-to-day operation and administration of the YWCO Summer Girls Club Camp and supervises a staff of 25. Recruits, hires, and provides mentoring, guidance, supervision and professional development to the Girls Club staff. Develops and implements various educational and entertaining programs.
Skillset Needed: Critical thinking and decision making, change leadership, collaboration, ability to communicate and influence, good character and reputation
Preferred Qualifications
 Education or professional development in the area child development or related field (Bachelor’s degree given preference)
 2+ years of experience as supervisor of a childcare / education program
 CPR / First Aid trained within 30 days of hire and Child Abuse Prevention training along with other safety trainings assigned within first 10 days of hire Minimum Requirements
 Associates degree coupled with work experience demonstrating skills that transfer to camp operations Job Responsibilities
 Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate team, includes group trainings prior to every session and individual coaching as needed – assistant director, counselors, bus drivers, specialty teachers, bookkeeper.  Complete paperwork for all new employees
 Assure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations, licenses and grant funding
 Develop and monitor yearly budgeting and tracking
 Manage and address staff issues, student behavior issues, and parent concerns
 Coordinate rental and serve as YWCO liaison to Alps Road Elementary School for contract, programming issues, and negotiations  Regular quality control checks and audits of Girls Club programming to ensure compliance  Ensure proper maintenance of records and department files, including payroll and invoices
 Oversee the recruitment, registration, and billing of campers
 Coordinate recruitment of camp volunteers
 Coordinate with the UGA experiential learning contact to ensure that new employee names are sent to check for qualification, qualifying employees are added to the program, and evaluations are completed and submitted by the program directors
 Implement and complete all grant requirements
 Coordinate Girls Club schedule including field trips, special guests, and bus schedule
 Coordinate publicity and marketing initiatives related to Girls Club
 Maintains attendance and other key records and documentation required for grants
 Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice
 Any other duties as assigned
Compensation: $9000 for the entirety of the summer camp program and pre-programming
Additional Information: Position begins immediately following hire offer to begin program planning and set up and will proceed at the rate of approximately 2 hours a week until the start of camp. This hire will be on site for the 6 weeks of Girls Club beginning June 5. There will be a Parent Orientation evening on June 1 and an in-person sign up day at the end of May they would need to attend also. Hours of camp are 8:00am-5:30pm.
The Girls Club Director is responsible for following the budget, setting up speakers/ events/ presenters, helping to recruit and train counselors, determining scholarship awards for campers, helping secure bus drivers, data gathering for grant reports (making sure the paperwork is accurate at the end of camp so that grant reports can be submitted), coordinating and hosting an End of Camp event, and other activities.
