Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
WUGA , the NPR member station serving Athens and Northeast Georgia, is looking for a Senior Content Producer to join our team and help tell the stories that matter to our audience and the Athens community. Position reports to the Program Director and Content Strategist.
The Senior Content Producer will be responsible for editorial and production planning for weekly news programs, including topic selection, story ideas, and guest selection and booking. The successful candidate will develop a wide range of news, information and entertainment consistent with the mission of public radio, the University of Georgia and Georgia Public Broadcasting. They will work with the rest of our team to assist in recording and editing, and to ensure that the final product meets editorial, production, and technical standards.
The Senior Content Producer will also produce stories for air in other parts of WUGA's schedule and on daily newscasts. Initiate and maintain productive and mutually-beneficial relationships with units at the University, Georgia Public Broadcasting, and communities within the station's service area. The candidate will work closely with our program director to find and capitalize on opportunities to expand the reach, scope, and diversity of WUGA news with a particular eye to expanding our audience through digital products. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
• Proficiency with Adobe Audition software and audio recording equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in a newsroom.
