BIOASSAY DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW

The Bioassay Development Intern will support the Biologics Analytical Research and Development (Bio-ARD) team. The Bio-ARD team is responsible for all aspects of CMC analytical development required to advance new biologic candidates into clinical studies.
In this lab-based role, you will work with a scientific mentor to investigate, develop, and optimize target-binding potency assays using laboratory methods such as Biolayer Interferometry, TR-FRET, and/or cell-based assays. The Intern will apply these methods to characterize novel protein therapeutics, including bispecifics, antibody drug conjugates (ADCs) and/or monoclonal antibodies to support development of new biologic drugs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Develop, optimize, and apply binding potency methods for characterization of protein therapeutics
Perform method robustness and accuracy studies
Sample preparation and operation of instrumentation, including Octet BLI and Envision plate reader
Design and execute experiments
Analyze and interpret data
Organize and document data in a lab notebook
Present work and results in team/group meetings
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Biology, Chemical Biology, Biochemistry, or other related field
Must be enrolled in university during the internship period
Knowledge and hands-on experience with common laboratory techniques (pipetting, sample dilution, aseptic cell-culture technique, and buffer preparation)
Strong written, verbal and oral communication skills
Hard-working, detail-oriented and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new skills
Collaborative team player
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Exposure to binding assays, cell-based assays, biotechnology, monoclonal antibodies
Experience in SPR, BLI and protein labeling
Excellent quantitative skills and prior experience with kinetic measurement (Kd, IC50, Kon/off) and/or analytical software (PRISM, Parallel Line Analysis, Softmax Pro)

The salary range is (minimum: $51,750 to maximum: $101,250) Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
