CDM Smith is looking for a Sr O&M (Operations & Maintenance) specialist who can fulfill the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME), and who can support our sales teams, expanding our Operation and Maintenance services. The successful candidate will have previous experience at a management level in a large and progressive Water or Wastewater Utility. You must feel comfortable working with Department heads, General Managers, and executives of large public and private utilities. You would be asked to present visionary and influential views on approaches and technologies available to help our clients achieve best practices in Utility management processes. You will also be responsible for leading the implementation of solutions working with clients across the country.
This position can be based out of any major CDM Smith U.S. office location.
As a senior member of the O&M team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's transformational growth, working with our Automation Teams and Digital Water implementers by:
- Evaluating practices of a utility and providing “Best Practices recommendations” for improving the operation, maintenance, and management of the Utility.
- Helping our clients optimize their physical and people processes through organizational development and training, increasing awareness of the power of digital solutions and advanced technologies for monitoring and control of complex processes.
- Helping our clients understand the value of technologies and best practices regarding information systems, asset management, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) , digital and automated solutions
- Advancing the service line through technical ingenuity, and innovation
- Implementing Big Data Platforms and IIOT (Industrial Internet-Of-Things) solutions for water and wastewater utilities in both the municipal and industrial markets
- Implementing cloud solutions to support IIOT and interfaces for data brokering/storage/aggregation/analysis.
- Implementing predictive analytics in Operations and Maintenance for utilities.
- Generating collaborative R&D proposals working with our clients to solve complex operational challenges, that improve operations, optimize asset management solutions, and provide technology solutions that result in data driven decisions.
- Collaborating with the client service units, pre-positioning for major pursuits by identifying and highlighting our technical differentiators.
- Assisting in recruiting and retaining strategic technical talent and the best and brightest employees.
- Providing thought leadership to the Operations and Maintenance Services Discipline CoP (Community of Practice).
- Developing and guiding technical specialists and discipline leaders within the practice and driving innovative ideas for research and development.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 12 years of related experience.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
- Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Water/Wastewater Certification or License
- Professional Engineering license (PE)
- Proven leadership and visionary abilities
- Expertise in managing large complex CIPs (Capital Improvements Plan) and Programs for Utilities
- Previous or current participation in AWWA or WEF
