A Technical Manager oversees all aspects of the quality, specifications, and product technical requirements for the company.  This position will manage a team of quality personnel responsible for ensuring the operation meets customer’s expectations. The ideal candidate should have a proven background of statistical process control (SPC) and continuous improvement and ability to lead the facility to consistently higher standards.
A solid understanding of MDF production process, resins, CARB phase 2 and FSC as well as a level of millwork skills and the understanding of the quality aspects required to meet customer specifications is a must. This individual should be well-versed in all technical processes, health and safety regulations. The ideal candidate will also have aptitude for undertaking both hands on and administrative tasks such as data collection and analysis, reporting, trials and continuous process improvement.
Description
• Very HANDS ON collaborative manager.
• Develop both operational and quality processes and procedures, and conduct required training in the implementation of these practices.
• Carry out inspections of the product and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
• Plan and oversee all technical activities.
• Maintain accurate quality testing and procedures, to minimize variation
• Ensure we continue to meet or exceed customer quality expectations.
• Allocate workload and supervise quality team members.
• Monitor testing equipment to maintain compliance and accuracy.
• Manage relationships with suppliers and service providers.
• Keep quality logs and report on daily activities.
• Ensure compliancy with all health and safety policies.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Bachelor’s degree in a wood science discipline or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as technical/ quality managerial role another related managerial role.
• Solid understanding of CARB phase 2
• Working knowledge of MDF processes and quality requirements.
• Ability to keep track of and report on activity.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities.
