Retail Pharmacist, PRN, Piedmont Athens
JOB PURPOSE:
The pharmacist ensures that all pharmacy employees provide service and function in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as company philosophy, policies and service standards. The pharmacist will work when the Pharmacy Manager is not present and will report to the Pharmacy Manager.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure that medications provided correspond with valid prescriptions and are dispensed without error
2. Ensures that prescriptions and medications are dispensed in accordance with all Federal and State laws.
3. Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of medications.
4. Provides advice about health issues, symptoms and medications in response to customer inquiries
5. Actively engages patients and clients with respect to customer service/program integrations offered by the pharmacy and medical system.
6. Handles and resolves customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
7. Provides advice about medication selections in response to diagnosis by medical staff
8. Assists Pharmacy manager in providing ongoing programs to pharmacy technicians, students and staff in matters pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and customer service.
9. Formulates and prepares extemporaneous compounds designed to fit the needs of the patient and requirements of the physician.
10. Provides direction to staff regarding the ordering and selling of prescription medications, OTC meds, first aid, and disposable durable medical equipment
11. Assists the Pharmacy Manager as necessary with third party Rx claim rejection problems and resubmission of rejected claims for payment on a timely basis
12. Manages staff such as pharmacy technicians, delivery personnel, and pharmacy students to ensure excellent customer service.
13. Performs other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
o Ability to work evening and weekend shifts
o Proficient with Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel
o Organizational and analytical skills with the ability to balance multiple tasks and prioritize workload
o Possess necessary clinical skills to adequately monitor patient drug therapies and recommend dosage/medication change to physicians when necessary

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelor’s degree of higher in Pharmacy.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
N/A.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state of Georgia.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience with pharmacy/employee management is preferred. Previous student or pharmacist experience in retail pharmacy preferred.
