Full Job Description Creature Comforts is seeking an experienced professional to fill an open Director of Procurement role within the Production department.
Role-Specific Responsibilities
· Develop long-term purchasing strategies, maintain positive relationships with suppliers, & coordinate with internal teams regarding their supply needs.
· Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers and identify new suppliers while adhering to company quality standards.
· Develop and maintain a company-wide sales and operations planning strategy.
· Monitor and update relevant departments regarding price fluctuations of goods and vendor pricing.
· Manage an efficient flow of goods to ensure optimum production.
· Create purchase orders and acquire goods.
· Develop and implement strategies for negotiations of price reductions and payment terms.
· Coordinate with the warehouse to manage inventory levels.
· Work to improve purchasing systems and processes.
· Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
· Review requests for proposals (RFPs)
· Annual cost savings delivered year over year.
· Measure the impact of sourcing, planning, and purchasing execution and report on results and opportunities for improvement.
· Assist in resolving problems with purchases or services; discuss defective or unacceptable goods/services with users, suppliers, or inspection/quality control to determine source trouble/problem and appropriate corrective action.
Education & Experience Requirements:
· Experience working in the procurement department in a related field
· Degree in business administration or a related field
· 3+ years’ experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position
· Strong understanding of procurement and negotiation techniques
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
· Willing to travel occasionally to meet with suppliers
· Strong planning and organizational skills
· Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
· Ability to work independently
