*Position*_Harm Reduction Outreach Worker_*Reports to*_Outreach Manager_*Position Description and Responsibilities*The Harm Reduction Outreach Worker will distribute harm reduction supplies to clients and educate them on preventing and reversing drug overdoses and preventing and detecting drug use-related infections. Additional responsibilities will include packaging supplies for distribution, entering client and encounter data into our secure system, driving to outreach locations and transporting clients to access services. The Harm Reduction Outreach Worker will work out of our Patrick County office and provide mobile outreach in Patrick County, Franklin County, and Martinsville-Henry County two days per week and Roanoke City two days per week. He/She/They will drive their own vehicle to outreach locations and occasionally use it to transport clients to access services. A personal vehicle, satisfactory driving record, and willingness to travel up to 500 miles per week are required for this position. The Harm Reduction Outreach Worker will complete community health worker training.*Responsibilities will include:** Training clients to reverse opioid overdoses* Educating clients on safer drug-use practices and drug use-related infections* Packaging supplies for distribution* Entering client and encounter data into our secure REDCap system* Driving to locations in Patrick County, Franklin County, Martinsville-Henry County, and Roanoke City* Completing community health worker training*Responsibilities may include:** Providing rapid field-based testing for HIV and/or hepatitis C* Transporting clients to access services* Enrolling clients in Medicaid and SNAP* Assisting with case management provision*Performance skills:** Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of the organization* Excellent work ethic and attendance* Ability to consistently follow instructions* Willingness to learn about and implement harm reduction practices* Ability to engage with clients in a trauma-informed manner* Ability to work independently and as a part of a team* Ability to maintain client confidentiality*Job Type:* Full-time position, 35 to 40 hours per week*Compensation:* $17.50 per hour plus mileage; health insurance coverage; paid holidays, vacations, and sick days*Requirements: *Valid Virginia driver’s license, own vehicle, satisfactory driving record*Virginia Harm Reduction Coalition is an equal opportunity employer and maintains a drug-free workplace.* *Minority candidates and those with substance use disorder lived experience encouraged to apply.
