Job Description
Position Summary:
Assemble aircraft components and subassemblies. Install items with the use of sealants, compounds, fasteners, and primers. Ability to use air gauges, micrometers, calipers, hone, press, drills and other shop equipment. Responsible for filing, burring, crimping, framing, drilling, reaming etc.
Essential Functions:
• Military or aerospace industry experience with complex metallic or composite assemblies
• Airframe and power plant (A&P) license/certification, aircraft mechanic certifications, or like certifications extremely beneficial but not required
• Must follow work instruction and be accountable for work performed
• Understand and use detailed drawings & sketches
• Able to fit check and assemble detail parts
• Able to identify and properly install fasteners and sealants
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
• Ability to sit and perform tedious tasks for long periods of time
• Shop math as it applies to detailed blueprints
• Maintain a clean, FOD free environment. Workplace organization a requirement
• Maintain and promote safe work conditions and support safety initiatives
• Participate in developing assembly work instructions and controlled documents as needed
• Work overtime, including nights and weekends to accomplish commitment dates if required
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
• Good oral and written communication skills required
• Good eye-hand coordination
• Accountability
• De tail Oriented - Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
• Self-Motivated - Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of ones' ability using his or her own drive or initiative.
• Positive attitude
• Team Builder - Ability to convince a group of people to work toward a goal.
• Technical Aptitude - Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
Preferred Experience:
• Aircraft mechanic certifications, or the like extremely beneficial but not required.
• Experience with aerospace industry requirements for FOD control, clean as you go, workplace organization/5S.
• Experience with hole drilling, fastening, sealing, painting, etc. beneficial but not required. Composite assembly experience beneficial but not required.
Work Environment:
• Manufacturing environment; may be exposed to loud noises, machinery with moving parts, and exotic materials.
