Assistant Research Scientist, Discovery
Aruna Bio is advancing a new class of cell-free biologics, exosomes, for the treatment of central nervous system (CNS) and neurodegenerative disorders and leveraging our novel platform to optimize the delivery of RNAs, antibodies, genes, and small molecules. Through this platform, we strive to improve outcomes for neurodegenerative, genetic, and rare diseases. Responsibilities •   Work both independently and as part of a team to accomplish the goals of the Discovery team within overall strategy of the company •   Contribute intellectually to the team and company with a broad understanding of neuroinflammation and/or neuroscience with specific expertise in cell signaling pathways, in vitro disease models, microRNA interrogation and/or cellular metabolism •   Possess broad experience or expertise with a wide variety of laboratory techniques including but not limited to western blots, ELISA, RNA-seq, RT-PCR and gene knockdown/knockout •   Contribute strategically to the overall direction of the Discovery Team •   Act as a technical lead on projects within Discovery team •   Cross-functionally interface with CMC and Nonclinical groups to integrate Discovery team findings into the greater company strategy •   Contribute to the overall design and methods on new projects with team input and management oversight •   Contribute to the design of new processes, methods or projects •   Proactively identifies potential problems with projects/studies and independently works to solve them prior to project initiation •   Ability to independently execute all technical aspects of a study/project •   Analyze data and interpret results based on experience and literature searches •   Proactively identify logical next steps in a series of studies •   Explain scientific goals, rational and results to a multidisciplinary audience •   Work to build consensus or alignment around complex situations, adapting communication style for the situation •   May lead discussions and makes presentations in multidisciplinary meetings, logically presenting information to convey clear, key messages •   Help grow the company’s intellectual property suite by contributing to new patent applications
Assistant Research Scientist, Discovery The Assistant Research Scientist position supports the Discovery Research efforts at Aruna Bio in developing an understanding of the effects of our proprietary neural exosomes on various cell types and animal models. The candidate will work as part of the larger Discovery team as well as with other departments. The Assistant Research Scientist position reports directly to the Director of Discovery Research. We are seeking PhD-level candidates, preferably with post-doc and/or industry experience. The position requires the candidate to design, execute and interpret in vitro and in vivo experiments, while working cross-functionally with leadership and other teams to integrate findings into Aruna’s scientific knowledge base and pipeline.
Qualifications and Education •   PhD in neuroscience, neuroinflammation or in vitro CNS disease models, MS+5 years relevant experience or BS+10 years relevant experience is required. Post-doctoral and/or industry experience is preferred •   Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting •   Excellent communication skills in a cross-functional setting •   Self-starter with analytical skills and critical/logical thinking •   Excellent written and oral communication skills •   Excellent organization and documentation skills, with strict attention to detail •   Ability to perform job responsibilities with limited supervision •   Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and in a timely fashion
