SUMMARY:
Provide assistance to the Technology organization, with regard to product / process development efforts, via: (1) Trials on pilot equipment; (2) Trials on full scale manufacturing equipment; (3) Laboratory experimentation; and (4) Testing, analysis, and reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute pilot trials:
• Understanding of and ability to operate pilot production equipment
• Experience with process controls and exacting SOPs
• Perform physical and chemical testing on raw materials, and new product prototypes according to specified test procedures
• Record and summarize test data and observations from product and raw material testing; proficiency of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Review and modify test methods to ensure accurate and useful data
• Assist in the scale-up to full production capabilities
• Maintain laboratory notebook
• Participate in Production Trials:
• Assist in execution of machine trials for product development
• Monitor checkpoints; collect samples and data
• Train on specialized equipment; operate and maintain this equipment
• Formulate standardized reports
Interface:
• Ability to interact both internally and externally, adhering to all company guidelines and principles
• Influence other technicians and scientists at more than current site location
• Carries out functions that must comply with ITAR standards; therefore, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or possess valid Permanent Resident documentation
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Associates degree or equivalent experience in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience in a production setting
• Demonstrated proficiency in math and science
• Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Conscientious, detail-oriented, and accurate
• Independent, self-starter that works with minimal supervision
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENT:
• Lifting of light weight objects (<40 lbs).
• Steady hands and dexterity to perform tasks repeatedly and accurately.
• Perform tasks that require constant state of alertness.
• Work performed in laboratory environment where PPE may be required – gloves, googles, etc.
• Work performed in production areas where PPE may be required for protection from equipment/machinery noise.
