Job Description
Cox Communications, Inc. is seeking a Lead Product Manager, Wireless who will provide leadership in product strategy, development, and management for its newly launched mobile services. Join us and become the driving force for the growth of a multi-billion-dollar new line of business!
In this role, you will be accountable for and serve as the authority on all aspects of the product portfolio lifecycle, for a specific set of features and experiences. This includes refining the mobile experience, authoring business cases, providing strategic product vision, writing product requirements, advocating for the best customer experience, defining and coordinating go-to-market activities, and defining and managing financial and operating metrics, enhancement priorities and owning the product roadmap. You will be recognized as the top subject matter expert on a portfolio of mobile services and device related products. With a focus on continuous improvement and analytics, you will lead new product development and launches, as well as lifecycle management once the product is live. The scope will range from innovation in bringing together Cox's mobile services with the incumbent home services, to more network or device focused services and experiences, working with device manufacturers, network services providers and other 3rd party vendors. This Product team owns the full customer lifecycle, from learning about the services to purchasing, shipping, unboxing, using the services, receiving a bill and making payments, to receiving support and managing their mobile services on their phone.
The Lead Product Manager, Wireless leads cross-functional teams by example, demonstrating passion and drive to satisfy customer needs. Builds consensus and drives various cross-functional Subject Matter Experts across Technology, Sales, Care, Marketing, Supply Chain, Training, Change Management, Legal and across all channels to define the product and customer experience and produce actionable results. With the support of Consumer Research and Experience (UX) organizations, elevates customer experience through product innovation and/or improvements that are then taken live to the Markets. Lensing on analytics that matter, synthesizing information to determine both current and future (years in advance) customer needs. Responsible for product portfolio roadmaps requiring multiple year plans. Provides input into budget decisions and prioritization. Operates with extensive latitude for independent judgment within operational parameters. Recommends resources to address/balance customer needs. Negotiates issues with peers and 1st level management to synthesize ideas and solutions that impact operational results. Provides mentorship and guidance to team members and associates.
Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
• Accountable for the completion of the full product development lifecycle and successful market launch and expansion. Accountable for product lifecycle management, once the product is in production.
• Accountable for the achievement of business objectives through planning, resourcing, monitoring accuracy of work, etc.
• Serves as champion for product initiatives to obtain necessary cross-functional support and sponsorship. Directly and indirectly influences others to garner needed resources and support.
• Exhibits leadership with respect to project development, team interactions, business insights and product management.
• Partners with the Markets, Sales, Care, Marketing, Consumer Research, Digital, Finance to generate business insights and create business cases which can guide product solutions and roadmap investments.
• Identifies customer expectations and unmet needs with product and services to innovate and create solutions that address gaps and create a delightful customer experience. Directs product features from ideation through market deployment.
• Builds a strong partnership with the Technology organization. Curious on new mobile services, cloud technologies, new mobile devices, and consumer electronics.
• Analyzes customer, business and product performance metrics and interprets underlying drivers to translate into data-based recommendations.
• Develops product family strategic vision; translates vision into roadmap, and then clear and defined business requirements to drive functional specifications and technical requirements.
• Drives requirements through the development lifecycle and commercial deployment. Creates User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plan and executes UAT test cases.
• Reviews and prioritizes production incidents (defects), development defects, and provides business sign-off
• Go-to-Market: creates and socializes product documentation, helps crate and reviews training documentation and customer facing articles, reviews legal disclaimers/T&Cs. Provides post launch support to front line Sales and Care professionals.
• Creates, sustains and optimizes operational practices and procedures to drive efficiencies. This organization follows Agile practices (SAFe) and Design Driven Product Development methodologies.
• Monitors developments within the industry, vendor community and technology trends in general to consider implications and benefits to customer expectations and product roadmaps. Performs on-going competitive analysis and makes product recommendations.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum:
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience.
• 6 or more years of experience required in related field (e.g. wireless/mobile industry, high tech industry, telecommunications, software development, product development, technology consulting, strategy consulting, marketing, sales, care and customer support, finance, process improvement, etc.)
• At least 2 years prior experience directly in Product Development and Management in the Wireless/Mobile industry, or high-speed internet industry, or High Tech/Software type of products
• Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization
• Strong market knowledge and interest in wireless, mobile, high tech, digital
