Full Job Description Athens Veterinary Surgery Center (AVSC) is looking for a Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate must have at least 2 years of solid small animal veterinary practice experience. The successful AVSC employee is highly motivated and has the ability to be a team player, multitask, quickly prioritize, problem solve, and handle stressful situations while maintaining a positive outlook. As part of the AVSC team you are expected to provide the highest level of patient care and client service. Key nursing skills include but are not limited to proper physical restraint, venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory testing, drug calculations, administering medication, fluid therapy, anesthesia monitoring, making radiographs, maintaining logs, and client servicing. Excellent written and oral communication, basic math skills and computer literacy is a must along with a dedication to lifelong learning and continuous improvement.

Office Hours (typical):
Monday thru Friday: 8 am - 5 pm
Additional requirements/information:
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must have High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
• The ability to lift to 50 lbs.
• Has reliable transportation
• Regular and predictable attendance is required
• Appointment and surgery schedule may vary
• Exposure to potential hazards associated with pets and veterinary care such as bites, scratches, noises, odors, allergens, animal waste, contagious diseases, biohazards, chemical hazards, anesthetic agents, and radiation (x-ray).
