Job Description Description:
We are searching for a Director of Construction who is a skilled people manager responsible for quality control, scheduling and coordination of construction activities and job-site safety for all construction projects for a commercial general contracting firm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Works directly with each project team which includes project executives, project managers and superintendents, subcontractors, and other construction personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule and on budget.
• Provides interpretation of drawings, recommendation of construction methods and equipment as required including site work, structural trades, finish trades, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection trades.
• Supervises the preparation of detailed two week look ahead schedules, ensuring completion on or ahead of scheduled dates.
• Inspects contractor or subcontractor operations to ensure compliance with contract.
• Develops quality assurance controls and conducts quality inspections.
• Maintains a good relationship with internal and external clients, including representatives of owner, architectural and engineering firms.
• Monitors internal labor time and material costs.
• Communicates and enforces the Safety and Health Management Program.
• Demonstrates commitment to an injury free environment through actions and mentoring.
• Supervises and works directly with project superintendents on a daily basis.
• Monitors and ensures that project superintendents are submitting accurate daily reports documenting weather and field conditions, trade and subcontractor manpower, and other conditions impacting the project schedule.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director of Construction is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination efforts of the superintendents and field labor force.
Qualifications
• Extensive understanding of commercial general contracting.
• Familiarity with the terms and conditions of project contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders including drawings and specifications.
• Strong self-starter with excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills within cross functional teams.
• Skilled at handling multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a reputation for being accurate, responsive, and well organized.
• Strong ability to read drawings and specifications.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality.
• Fosters trusting relationships, delegates work, and ensures work is done well.
• Demonstrated computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products and project management software programs.
Education and/or Experience
B.S. degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or other related discipline strongly preferred.
Minimum 15 or more years in commercial general contracting.
OSHA Certification
First Aid/CPR Certification
