This is a reality for AbbVie's Experiential Interns. Tau misfolding plays a key role in Alzheimer's disease (AD), as well as other neurodegenerative diseases. There has been an explosion in novel science related to the release, spread, and uptake of tau aggregates in pathology conditions by numerous in vitro and in vivo approaches. We are interested in understanding the characteristics of tau aggregates which are responsible for the seeding and propagation of pathology using in vitro culture systems. The intern will help to perform and analyze in vitro cell culture-based assay experiments as well as learn transcriptomic methods and analyses. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Help design, perform, and analyze in vitro and in vivo experiments in Alzheimer's disease models using biochemical and/or molecular techniques Learn aseptic technique to work with hiPSC neurons and rodent primary neuronal cultures Learn how to use a high-content confocal microscope to collect high resolution image data and perform quantitative data analysis as well as learn IHC and similar techniques Learn transcriptomics and analysis on samples ranging from primary mouse neuron cultures to postmortem Alzheimer's Disease tissues.
