Follow @abbvie on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.  **ENGINEERING, SMALL MOLECULES CMC DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW** The Small Molecule CMC Development Function invents synthetic processes to prepare active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) to enable the development of AbbVie’s pipeline, and ultimately to provide commercial manufacturing processes. Under supervision of research scientists in the group, the intern will primarily conduct the work to understand and model particle breakage using various routes and enable a robust scale-up parameterization. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:** - Identify current understanding of the particle breakage technologies through literature survey - Conduct experiments utilizing in-house particle breakage and process analytical technologies - Develop a computational model to identify trends in particle breakage as a function of particle properties **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** - Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Material Science Engineering, or related field - Must be enrolled in university during the internship period - Demonstrated excellent oral and written technical communication skills - Self-motivated; ability to execute with limited supervision and direction - Ability to thrive in a high-performance culture with excellent time management, decision-making, and organizational skills to make meaningful progress. - Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including analysis - Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** - Strong track record of conducting and analyzing research findings - Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments. - Expected graduation between August 2023 and December 2024 **BENEFITS AND AMENITIES** - Competitive pay - Opportunity to connect with AbbVie leaders and scientists. - Exposure to Allergan Aesthetics portfolio and Medical Device Design control **EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY** At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
