This is a reality for AbbVie’s Experiential Interns. Oncology is a key therapeutic area for AbbVie, with a portfolio consisting of three marketed products: Imbruvica, Venclexta, and Empliciti, and a pipeline containing multiple promising new molecules. These new molecules are being studied in nearly 200 clinical trials in 19 different types of cancer. AbbVie has more than 1,000 scientists, clinicians, and product developers with strong entrepreneurial roots dedicated to this research. They combine their expertise in immuno-oncology, stem cells, and cell-signaling with their knowledge of bispecific antibodies, antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), and covalent-inhibitor technologies to discover and develop novel cancer treatments. AbbVie’s Immuno-oncology team is expanding and is hiring an Intern to join our Immuno-oncology group. The intern will join a dynamic team focused on identifying and evaluating novel targets in the field of cancer immunotherapy. Cancer immunotherapy harnesses the cytotoxic capabilities of the immune system and directs it towards the destruction of highly immunogenic tumors. However, not all patients treated with checkpoint blockade therapy experience tumor shrinkage, durable responses, or prolonged survival. Thus, enhancing tumor immune cell infiltration of poorly immunogenic tumors is a critical challenge. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:** - Help identify critical chemokines to enhance bioactivity of antibodies against other immuno-oncology (IO) agents (ie . checkpoint inhibitors, co-stimulatory agents, immuno-cytokines, etc. ). **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** - Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Immunology or other related fields - Must be enrolled in university during the internship period - Must have demonstrated qualitative and quantitative analytical skills - Must have strong interest in oncology discovery and eagerness to learn analytic lab techniques - Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS** - Prior lab experience with cell culture and flowcytometry **BENEFITS AND AMENITIES** - Competitive pay - Travel, transportation and lodging support for eligible students - Opportunity to connect with Abbvie leaders and scientists - Exposure to cutting edge technologies and concepts presented by Abbvie scientists - Break rooms stocked with complimentary coffee, tea, beverages, snacks, and cold breakfast items - Onsite café and fitness center **EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY** At AbbVie, we value bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds to develop new and innovative solutions for patients.
