Follow @abbvie on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.  **ONCOLOGY DISCOVERY TUMOR DEPENDENCY INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW** The Tumor Dependency group within Oncology Discovery plays a key role in the identification and validation of novel targets that present cancer selective dependencies. Under supervision of a senior principal research scientist in the group, the Oncology Discovery Tumor Dependency Intern will primarily support elucidation of RNA metabolism mechanisms in solid tumors with specific focus on mRNA stability and splicing mechanisms. **KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:** - Identify key RNA metabolism pathways impacting solid tumor cell cross talk with tumor suppressor gene functions through literature and bioinformatic analysis - Develop and/or apply biological principles to support a hypothesis driven experimental plan to identify key players in the RNA metabolism pathway implicating cellular state - Lead the execution of in vitro experiments to advance the biological concepts in support of role of RNA metabolism regulators as novel targets in oncogenesis **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** - Currently enrolled in university, pursuing a PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field - Must be enrolled in university during the internship period - Must possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills, including analysis - Self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision and direction.
