Job Description E.M. Herr Farm and Home Center located in Willow Street; PA . has an immediate opening for a Lead Service Mechanic/Technician.
E.M. Herr Farm and Home Center in Willow Street, PA., is looking for an experienced Lead Service Mechanic to work on outdoor power equipment, lawn, and garden equipment including mowers. The individual should be reliable, responsible, trustworthy, and have past experience working in a mechanic shop environment. This is a full-time position. Our shop stays busy year-round and we are looking for a technician who is interested in growing with us long-term. This full-time position qualifies for full benefits including Medical, Simple IRA, Paid Holidays, and a generous employee discount after 90 days.
Job Description and Qualifications:
• The individual will need a good set of hand tools (metric, standard, torx, etc.) for required work, including some measurement tools like clearance gauges, Digital Volt Ohm meter, compression gauge, torque wrench, and air tools would be needed.
• The individual will need to pass or have certifications for equipment we sell/service for warranty purposes. These will be ongoing to maintain dealership qualification for equipment sales/service. The position requires good troubleshooting skills and electrical knowledge.
• The position requires knowledge of 2-cycle, 4-cycle, and diesel engines.
• The position requires proper set up and preparations of new equipment.
• This position requires the ability to read and understand illustrated parts diagrams along with electrical diagrams.
• Knowledge in hydraulics and welding would be needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs occasionally and 25-50lbs frequently.
• Working efficiently and accurately to complete repairs in a reasonable time frame. Striving to limit repeat repairs.
• The individual should be proficient with Windows operating system and have a camera capable of taking photos for submission during the warranty process.
• The individual will need to be able to estimate jobs with good accuracy.
• The individual should be able to maintain a proper workspace and service parts inventory. Job may require overtime during the busy season.
• Reliable transportation to work and meet the minimum qualifications to operate equipment safely. Ability to use (PPE) preventative protection equipment properly.
• The individual would need to be good with customer interaction and assistance.
Required
• High School / GED
Additional Requirements:
• A valid driver’s license required
• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Previous retail experience in a hardware store environment is a plus
• EETC Certification (prefered) - we can assist on acquiring this certification
Physical Requirements and Environment:
• Ability to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts for long periods of time Use of carts, dollies, hand trucks, pulleys, and other gear to move items around
• Go up and down stairs (where applicable)
• Exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures will vary
• Exposure to above-normal noise levels at times
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour depending on experience
