Purpose & Job Related RequirementsREPORTS TO: Facility SupervisorFLSA STATUS: Non-exemptCLASSIFICATION: Personnel System - Requires satisfactory completion of a six month probationary periodPAY GRADE: 113SAFETY SENSITIVE: NoPurpose of JobThe purpose of this job is to assist in planning, developing and evaluating programs in the Leisure Services Department for the Athens-Clarke County community. This position oversees daily program activities, prepares materials and assures programs are maintained and staffed at an appropriate level. The position also assists with front desk duties including answering telephones, program registration, handling paperwork and directing the public as needed.Job Related RequirementsWORK SCHEDULE: Tuesday & Thursday 12 - 8pm, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 9 - 5May be required to work on religious holidays.Regular and predictable attendance is required.Must work cooperatively with others.When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job FunctionsHigh school diploma with one year of recreational programming experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.Supervisory experience is preferred.Must possess a valid driver's license.Must be certified in First Aid/CPR or have ability to attain within 6 months of employmentEssential Duties, ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Assists with the planning, developing and evaluating of programs and special events for all age groups in the community.This position would be the glue between the programs in exhibition/education areas and the public of ACC in that they would assist the department with an outreach calendar, graphic design and all promotion.Recommends programming to meet community needs.Maintains and processes records, and updates reports, flyers, publications and promotional materials for programs and the facility.Instructs classes and/or conducts programs where necessary.Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment and requisitions supplies for activities and events.Assists with the coordination of volunteer needs, recruitment, training and recognition at assigned facility.Prepares facility for programs and special events. Inspects and monitors facility buildings and grounds, and performs routine building maintenance as needed.Would assist all the staff in the large public events and would contribute to the management of the physical plant as needed.Assists with the management of daily operations of the facility and short and long-range program planning.Would manage all social media, e-newsletters, memberships. Would be at the front desk as needed as well as fill in for full time staff during lunch hour.Performs research for special projects, staff, and the general public.Researches the needs for outreach and public relations.Assists with website updates as needed. Transports participants to and from activities.Assists with the enforcement of facility rules and regulations.Serves as community resource person in programming and special events.Performs other related duties as required.When Assigned to Studio Monitor at the Lyndon House Arts CenterUnderstanding of creative processes in ceramics, black and white photography, printmaking, metalsmithing, painting, fiber and wood.Oversees the use of the facility studios and technical equipment and materials to ensure proper handing and safety. (Includes but not limited to: power tools, acetylene tanks, ceramic and enamel kilns, darkroom chemicals, print making presses)With the management of new Open Studio program, this person would assist the Education Program Specialist with the needs of the facility in the areas of the jewelry, wood, clay, fiber, print, photo and painting studios.Oversees the development and implementation of Open Studio Membership program; oversees and assists members in the use of the studio facilities and in their creative endeavors.Coordinates the sign in and sign out of the membership program and assures that members are adhering to the rules and regulations of the studio facility.Provides insight and feedback to improve Open Studio Membership program and privileges.Provides input in regards to regular and best uses of technical and facility equipment.Has knowledge of art handling procedures and techniques and the ability to climb a ladder and handle gallery lighting.Oversees and manages the Artist in Resident programResponsible for the design and implementation of workshops and other art educational programs based in the studios.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of assigned facility in the Leisure Services Department.Knowledge of management and recreational practices, policies, and procedures as necessary in the completion of daily responsibilities.Knowledge of all applicable laws, ordinances, policies, standards and regulations pertaining to the duties and responsibilities of the job.Ability to effectively communicate and interact with subordinates, management, employees, members of the general public and all other groups involved in the activities of the Athens-Clarke County Government as they relate to the Leisure Services Department.Ability to assemble information and make written reports and documents in a concise, clear and effective manner.Ability to stay informed of any changes in policy, methods, operations, budgetary and equipment needs, etc. as they pertain to departmental operations and activities.Ability to effectively handle human relations and technical subjects.Ability to handle the required mathematical calculations.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Supplemental Information(ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIREDTO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials. This position requires: walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors subject to rain, wind, cold and hot temperatures and potentially wildlife. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.
