Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Medical Appeals Specialist for an Athens, GA company! We are a full-service Staffing Firm where we work with companies in Athens and surrounding areas who have openings that they are looking to fill with great talent we find for them!
In this role you will:
• Process responses from health insurance companies
• Perform adjustments as appropriate
• Interpret EOBs (explanation of benefits) and perform actions based on EOB
• Successfully resolve denied claims
• Successfully resolve edits and rejected claims
• Prepare and file appeals, when applicable
• Obtain and provide medical records when requested by payors
• Obtain and update patient demographic information accurately
• Answers questions from patients, clerical staff and insurance companies
• Identifies and resolves patient and client billing complaints
• Follows and reports status of delinquent accounts
• Reviews accounts for possible assignment and makes recommendations to the team lead or manager
• Performs various pre-collection actions including contacting patients and clients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers
• Participates in educational activities and attend staff meetings
• Conducts self in accordance with employee manual
• Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
We like to hear from candidates with:
• Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems desirable
• Knowledge of computer programs
• Knowledge of business office procedures
• Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
• Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment
• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system
• Experience in answering a telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, clients, employees, and the public
• Properly uses time clock as required to track working hours
• Updates voice mail and e-mail messages when absent from work
• Responds to voice messages in a timely manner
• Must be well organized and detail-oriented
