Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to maintain records and assist the public with registration and voting needs for the Board of Elections.  Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, provide support and clerical assistance in the Board of Elections office, maintain files and scanning voter registration cards, audit data entry of voter registration data, assist in data entry, assist with in-person office voting, register voters, answer the phone during peak voting periods and perform other duties as assigned.
Job Related Requirements
WORK SCHEDULE: Part-time hours , 29 hours per week during off season of elections.
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm during election.  Hours may vary depending on the demand.
Saturday/Sunday occasional; as needed.
May be required to work on religious holidays.
Regular and predictable attendance is required.
Must work cooperatively with others.
When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy. Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of clerical and records maintenance experience and /or related experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Answers telephone inquires when necessary, and especially during peak work seasons.
Assists citizens of Athens-Clarke County with voter registration.
Assists with the data entry of voter registration cards and ballot applications.
Assists with early voting, absentee voting and other election duties as needed.
Assists with mail received and sent from the Board of Elections.
Assists the public in locating information.
Assists with scanning voter registration cards, absentee ballot applications and other records as deemed appropriate.
Assists with maintaining active voter registration records, archival and inactive records.
Assists Poll Coordinators with Election Day tasks when necessary.
Equips Poll Coordinators with extra supplies when needed on Election Day.
Reports any or all malfunctions, mishaps, etc. to the Elections Director and/or the Board of Elections.
Assists with testing and updating all Elections equipment prior to all Elections.
Assists Elections Assistant with all tasks related to the Elections equipment and supplies at the warehouse, such as inventory, repairs, paperwork, etc.
Surveys all Election Day and Early/Advance Polling Locations prior to Election Day to ensure ADA Compliance.
Conducts evaluations of Polling Locations on Election Day.
Assists Poll Coordinators in setting up and closing up Election Day Polling Locations.
Assists Poll Coordinators with training and preparation for all Elections.
Assesses all Polling Locations on Election Day to ensure we are in compliant with all codes, rules and regulations of the State Election Laws.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and activities of the Board of Elections office as they pertain to the performance of duties relating to the position of Election Clerk.
Knowledge of the terminology used within the department.
Knowledge of the procedures and methods as required in the performance of duties.
Ability to compile, organize, prepare, and maintain an assortment of records, reports, and information in an effective manner and according to departmental and/or governmental regulations.
Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, other staff members, candidates, elected officials and the public.
Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.
Ability to utilize and understand computer applications and techniques as necessary in the
completion of daily assignments.

Supplemental Information (ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including a computer, calculator, document image scanner, copier, telephone and other related office equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move, or carry objects or materials.  This position requires:  walking, bending, stooping, standing, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.  Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for sedentary work.
DATA CONCEPTION: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of data, people, or things.

MOTOR COORDINATION: Requires the ability to coordinate hands and eyes in using record keeping, mail, and office equipment.  Requires the ability to use the keyboard, lift, push, bend and pull objects or materials using body parts as the position necessitates.
MANUAL DEXTERITY: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as computers and other various office equipment. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
COLOR DISCRIMINATION: May require the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color.
INTERPERSONAL TEMPERAMENT: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under moderate stress when confronted with an emergency.
