Network Engineer
Location - Specialty Foods Group (SFG) - Owensboro, KY
Summary:
Specialty Foods Group (SFG) is seeking a Network Engineer to be part of a global organization. This position will be responsible for day-to-day operations of patching / remediation and functioning as the primary SME for Palo Alto Firewalls. The Network Engineer is expected to be fully aware of the enterprise's goals and posture as established by its stated policies, procedures, and guidelines and to actively work towards upholding those goals.
Responsibilities:
• Planning, engineering, and monitoring the firewall arrangements for the protection of the network systems.
• Configuration and implementation of intrusion detections systems and firewalls.
• Research and recommend measures to reduce risks associated with new viruses.
• Serves on the Incident Response team for security incidents and outbreaks.
• Maintain understanding of current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures.
• Identifying operational security risks and accurately reporting risks to management with recommendations for corrective action.
• Report performance against established security metrics by monitoring, measuring, testing, and reporting on the effectiveness and efficiency of information security controls.
• Work with software manufacturers to ensure best practices are implemented.
• Provide a technical point of escalation and technical guidance for Systems Support Analysts, Tier I and II
• Conform to all safety and confidentiality rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
Experience:
• 4+ years' experience in Administration & Engineering with Palo Alto Networks security solutions.
• Advanced level of experience with Palo Alto firewalls. Ability to function as the Palo Alto SME.
• Deploying and Administrating Panorama Management System
• Layer 3 Routing Protocols (i.e., BGP, OSFP, EIGRP, IGRP, HSRP, VRRP)
• Virtual Private Networking (i.e, MPLS, GRE, IPsec, L2VPN)
• Software Defined Networks for both Data Center and WAN applications
• Designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and documenting network security infrastructures and related systems
• Virtual and Cloud networking experience a plus(Azure and VMware).
• CCNA, PCNSA, or PCNSE certification a plus.
Physical Requirements
Work is primarily performed in an office environment requiring ability to sit, talk, hear, frequent walking, standing and sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to use standard office equipment such as telephone, computer, and copier.
