Position Summary: The incumbent reports to the Senior Director for Facilities Operations and Infrastructure and is responsible for leading a team of approximately 250 professional and paraprofessional maintenance and operations team members. This leader sets the strategic direction for the Facility Management Operations and Maintenance team, as well as ensures the team is performing effectively and efficiently. The Director of Operations and Maintenance will identify and implement best practices for the department and develop metrics to evaluate and manage performance as well as bring innovation and emerging trends to the department. This leader acts with a high degree of autonomy and is needed to function independently as a leader and as a technical subject matter expert within the engineering field. The actions of this leader will greatly influence engineering decisions made on both a project level as well as on a much larger master planning level for our campus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: • Understanding of building systems and structure requirements related to mechanical, electrical, plumbing systems, utility systems, and building codes related to ADA.
• Knowledgeable of the construction process and various construction procurement methodologies and building codes.
Physical Demands: Potential for confined space training. Move, climb stairs, read, work from a standard and/or extended ladder, work with hands above head, and work at a desktop/laptop computer during the work day. Drive to perform work-related duties.

Duties/Responsibilities: • Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision of the Operations and Maintenance Department (O&M).
• Work with institutional units in the operation and preparation of their facilities maintenance, including structural and mechanical needs.
• Conduct facilities operational analysis related to short and long term facility needs of campus buildings.
• Coordinate personnel and staffing matters, shop operations, and manage department budgets and related fiscal activities.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of the department’s data resources to support the strategic planning and policy making process and the accurate and timely flow of information regarding personnel, budget, capital facilities, equipment and other assets as assigned to the Facilities Management Division.

Duties/Responsibilities: • Keep the Sr. Director for Facilities Operations and Infrastructure informed of all major issues impacting the department.
• Direct projects, analyses, or presentations that have coordination or integration of resources from the various support units of the Division.
• Participate in or provide staff support for various campus committees, task forces, and groups as assigned.
• Promote safe work practices within each shop to ensure conformance to national safety standards. The incumbent will have strong management skills with the ability to exercise a great level of discretion and initiative.

Duties/Responsibilities: • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate work of multi-department operation to complete facilities maintenance, operation, service, repair, and construction.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations and address maintenance, operations, and construction needs within the University.
• Coordinate projects with other University departments/divisions, outside contractors, and State and Federal agencies ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Coordinate and assist design architects and engineers in the planning and design of new facilities on campus.

Duties/Responsibilities: • Bid and facilitate outside service contracts.
• Oversee cost accounting within the departments, provide cost estimates on major projects, and prepare and provide input to maintenance budget for each fiscal period.
• Provide technical direction to multiple work groups in the daily repair, maintenance, and construction of the campus facilities.
• Receive, investigate, and resolve customer complaints to ensure highest level of service is provided to the facilities.
