Job Summary The Director of Major Gifts provides strategic leadership to Owensboro Health Foundation and is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the Foundation#s major gift program and activities, stewarding gifts of $5,000 and above. The Director manages a portfolio of key donors and executes fundraising initiatives essential to developing, expanding and stewarding major philanthropic support for Owensboro Health. The Director provides professional, quality customer service to donors, volunteers, staff, and other community contacts. # Job Responsibilities Works closely with the Executive Director, OH President and CEO, Foundation and OH system board, system leadership, providers, and other team members to help expand the culture of philanthropy and deepen the community#s relationship with Owensboro Health. Collaborates with the Executive Director to strategically define and implement leading industry and professional practices through an understanding of research analytics, metrics, and data-driven processes. Manages qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of portfolio made up of high wealth donor prospects, foundations and organizations. Establishes relationships with Owensboro Health physician and clinician partners to help identify prospective donors. Works with board members, physicians, campaign volunteers and Foundation staff to advance the major gifts program. Prepares written proposals to donors and prospects to motivate increased levels of giving. Prepares routine reports and progress results as related to fiscal year metrics. Assists in development of Annual Report. Designs, documents and implements a donor relations program by maintaining contact and communication with prospects, donors, board members, etc. Ensures appropriate acknowledgment of all major gift donors. Develops strategies for new donor acquisition and growth. Serves as primary contact for major giving donors and assists in resolving problems, questions and concerns. Coordinates and monitors the Foundation#s recognition process with Marketing and Community Affairs. Works with Foundation staff to create an effective communication cycle, meaningful programs, materials, and recognition opportunities. Maintains all relevant data in Raiser#s Edge database including donor meetings, correspondences, actions, etc. Works with Executive Director and the Foundation Services Specialist to ensure adherence to policies and procedures regarding gift acceptance, gift counting and gift processing. Attends Foundation Board meetings, relevant committee meetings, system board and relevant committee meetings, and system leadership meetings to educate leadership and advocate on behalf of Owensboro Health Foundation. Collaborates with Executive Director on budget development. Responsible for overseeing revenue and expenses within area of responsibility and providing information on budget variances. Qualifications Bachelor#s degree or higher in Business Administration required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in Marketing required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in Communications required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in Journalism required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in Political Science required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in Public Relations required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in healthcare related field required upon hire A combination of education, training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree. A minimum of 5 years# relevant experience required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under minimal supervision.
