Employment Type:Full timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:This position is located at Community Internal Medicine Associates in Athens, GA. The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery and facilitation of clinical care in an efficient and cost effective manner. The Medical Office Assistant assumes responsibility for conducting vital signs, EKGs, and patient teaching adhering to quality standards. This position is responsible for filling out orders under the direction of the physician and obtaining his signature for such. The Medical Office Assistant collects and documents appropriately in medical records and other clinic documentation, enters data into clinic databases, greets patients and responds to inquiries from fellow employees, physicians and patients. The Medical Office Assistant may also be required to travel to and from the satellite clinics in outlying counties two days per week and may be the only staff member working with the physician at the satellite clinic. The MOA is responsible for making sure the patient charts are in order, greeting and checking in the patients, answering the phone and addressing the caller’s needs. Takes the patient back, obtaining weight and vital signs, recording medications, allergies and family physician in the patient chart. Arranging any follow up testing or procedure ordered by physician. The MOA at times may be asked to work in different areas of the practice depending on need.Medical Assistant certification required. AAMA, NCCT, NHA or NCCA currently accepted, others must be reviewed and approved by medical group director.  BLS certification required within 3 months of employment.
