Preferred Qualifications Position Summary
The IT Manager will provide leadership over the OS Administration (Windows & Linux) and Storage and Virtualization Administration teams. Both teams are actively engaged in service delivery, expansion, and continual service enhancements for mission critical systems and related infrastructure. Additionally, a strong partnership between the IT Manager and the Network Engineering and Information Security teams would be expected. There will be an emphasis placed on defining success for initiatives and developing pathways to continual improvement. Experience supporting large scale enterprise systems is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset with an eagerness to learn and a talent for building effective relationships and working in a team. Previous experience working hands on in a technical systems administrator type role is a value add. The ability to translate needs/issues with both functional and technical audiences through positive communication and interpersonal skills are required.

a) Supervise teams responsible for enterprise service delivery (on-premise and cloud); including setting priorities, resolving conflicts, performance evaluations, and performance coaching
b) Collaborate with functional teams on diverse, complex issues and projects both internal and external to EITS
c) Facilitates knowledge transfer between units inside and outside of EITS
d) Generate quotes, purchase requests, and justification for procurement of equipment and services
e) Assist in the forecasting and verification of cost recovery service accounts under position purview.
f) Participate in meetings relevant to this position and team across campus
g) Creates and facilitates change requests for approval on all production systems
h) Works across EITS to develop and document system policies and procedures

a) Spend time researching and developing new, innovative technologies for next-generation services for campus
b) Explore options for addressing current issues or service gaps by reaching out to other Universities; discussing methods, technologies, and processes they have used to knowledge-share and/or collaborate on solutions
c) Engage in the Continual Service Improvement process to regularly assess services and processes to identify opportunities for service enhancements or replacements
d) Assess technologies that could be utilized in our environment to augment current services to better achieve the goals as outlined in the IT Master Plan for campus IT
e) Develop and maintain frameworks to guide innovation and improvement cycles
