THIS POSITION SUPPORTS THE JACKSONVILLE, FL AREA
The Franchise Business Consultant's role increases the overall performance of Zaxby's restaurants by executing objectives outlined by the Director of Field Operations in accordance with the ZFL Strategic Plan. This position visits all stores within a designated region as frequently as possible; guides, supports, and develops the Franchisees within the designated region by working with 1-2 target stores, conducting at least 1 operations review, and overseeing 1-2 Field Support Specialist development visits each quarter. This position is responsible for assisting in maximizing assigned restaurant performance while operating in accordance to the Brand expectations and their franchise agreement.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from and reports directly to the Field Operations Manager
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Essential duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Plan visits/meetings and learn how to adjust as issues arise
• Visit locations within region to gain a better understanding of how they operate
• Learn how to compare key metrics to present to the Franchisee and management
• Use feedback from leadership to develop systems and understand what to document and how to store the information
• Understand and attend to behavioral cues and body language to know how it affects outcomes
• Build relationships and develop trust by being in their locations and following through on commitments
• Utilize peers and leadership to talk/walk through different situations for suggestions on how to partner with Franchisees
• Meet with Franchisees and managers to learn what motivates them and try different approaches for consulting within region
• Learn how to develop action plans and present to Franchisee and management
• Understand how the Consultant and Field Support Specialist roles work together to maximize outcomes and understand what areas to focus on to develop their Field Support Specialist
• Spend time in the region getting to know their infrastructure and how they execute systems
• Seek guidance from peers and leaders when faced with situations that haven't been previously experienced and then organize the results to streamline the process moving forward
• Learn the difference in understanding the issue vs. being involved in the issue
• Be humble in the beginning and make sure that a topic is fully understood before offering suggestions
• Develop strong working relationships with other departments
• Develop an organization strategy to maintain all documentation
• Listen to peers and leadership talk about progress of the Franchisees
• Schedule time for consultations, administrative duties, and meetings
• Actively learn other sub-departments in Operations and how your role can help them
• Work with guidance from Operations Development Manager on feedback from the field and peers
• With guidance, recommend new initiatives, equipment, and new technology
• Feed information back to peers and leadership for direction on which department to send information
• Assist other ZFL Departments when needed and approved by Operations Development Manager
• Make note of observations to confirm data within reports
• Attend all training sessions
• Visit each restaurant in assigned region a minimum of once a year
• Gain insight on regions internal structure
• Follow up on inspections with Franchisees and managers
• Follow plan from Field Marketing Consultant on Local Store Marketing initiatives
• Learn about the Field Operations Specialist (Openings and Inspections) role to be able to lend support as needed
• Know what resources are available and/or necessary to complete assigned projects in a timely manner and when to ask for them
• Attend ZFL's annual conferences; use this opportunity to make connections and build relationships with other team members in Field Operations
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT
Up to 75% required
QUALIFICATIONS
• Must possess strong negotiation and persuasion skills
• Must attain and maintain ServSafe certification
• Must maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal workplace health and safety regulations
• Must be able to facilitate to management and team members a complete understanding of operational procedures
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
• Maintain a servant attitude; operate as a business advisor; must be willing to help franchisees grow through discussing weaknesses, threats, and opportunities within their organization
• Must be proficient in public speaking and presentations
• Must have the following competencies:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Business/Management preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience: 1-3 years of related managerial experience and/or training
