Retail Pharmacy Manager, Piedmont Athens - Oconee Health Campus
JOB PURPOSE:
Pharmacy manager is responsible for the overall growth, development, legal compliance, and management of the pharmacy location. The Manager cultivates strong relationships with the community, MD prescribers, and key influencers to build a consistent pipeline for business. The Manager also ensures that all pharmacy employees provide service and function in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations as well as company philosophy, policies and service standards. The Manager will work autonomously with input from the Director of Outpatient Pharmacy on a regular basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures that medications provided correspond with valid prescriptions and are dispensed without error.
2. Answers questions and provides information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage of medications.
3. Provides advice about health issues, symptoms and medications in response to customer inquiries.
4. Actively engages patients and clients with respect to customer service/program integrations offered by the pharmacy and medical system.
5. Handles and resolves customer issues, complaints and questions to build customer trust and loyalty.
6. Provides advice about medication selections in response to diagnosis by medical staff.
7. Provides ongoing programs to pharmacy technicians, students and staff in matters pertaining to the practice of pharmacy and customer service.
8. Formulates and prepares extemporaneous compounds designed to fit the needs of the patient and requirements of the physician.
9. Managers the ordering and selling of prescription medications, OTC meds, first aid and disposable durable medical equipment.
10. Manages the pharmacy budget to meet sales goals while also managing expense targets.
11. Maintains statistical and financial records as required by the medical system or State and Federal laws such as controlled substance/pseudoephedrine registries, sales receipts, and cash receipts.
12. Maintains awareness of third party Rx systems and resolves claim rejection problems promptly and resubmits rejected claims for payment on a timely basis.
13. Recruits and manages staff such as pharmacy technicians, delivery personnel, and pharmacy students to ensure excellent customer service.
14. Assists in the preparation of sales materials and displays to be used for patient and clinician marketing.
15. Assists in marketing pharmacy services to patients, physicians, and mid-level providers.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
 Ability to work evening and weekend shifts
 Proficient with Microsoft applications: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
 Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to balance multiple initiatives and prioritize workload
 Possesses necessary clinical skills to adequately monitor patient drug therapies and recommend dosage/medication changes to physicians when necessary
 Proven understanding of financial processes, budget management and margins

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s Degree (BS) or Doctoral Degree (Pharm. D.) in Pharmacy plus a minimum of 1 year experience as a licensed pharmacist or equivalent combination of experience. Previous experience with pharmacy and employee management is preferred.
