Job Description Carroll County Water Authority is seeking a Water Treatment Laboratory Analyst to join its team. This is technical laboratory work including water laboratory testing, analysis, technical training and assistance for a water treatment system. An employee in is responsible for the planning and implementation of a daily laboratory program in accordance with prescribed standards, policies, procedures, permits, and regulations. This employee also participates in the laboratory work, including selecting appropriate test procedures and instrumentation and conducting a variety of simple and complex chemical, bacteriological and microbiological analyses of samples collected from water/wastewater treatment facilities, reservoirs, streams, rivers, and industrial/ commercial concerns. This employee is on 24-hour call, 7 days a week.
Duties:
• Schedule, collect and test raw water, potable water, process waters, wastewater and industrial samples according to "standard methods" and other EPA approved practices.
• Analyze laboratory results and records
• Assure compliance with assigned schedules, priorities and deadlines
• Perform accurate laboratory analysis through use of general lab testing equipment within acceptance limits+ /-10%
• Handle dangerous chemicals and hazardous substances according to OSHA regulations
• Provides technical support and problem solving on maintenance, laboratory or testing problems, safety concerns, and operational/ mechanical problems
• Prepares, implements, and updates standard operating, safety, and emergency procedures for the water treatment analysis program. Follows established quality control program and maintains quality control log books on a prescribed schedule.
• Responds and resolves customer complaints. Collects and analyzes samples to determine nature of problem and explains results to customer. Performs public relations duties.
• Prepares standard reagent and solutions for use in laboratory testing.
• Calibrates, adjusts, and operates equipment/ instrumentation utilized in conjunction with laboratory analyses and makes minor repairs.Sterilizes equipment and bottles for sampling and testing.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and assist in requisitions of supplies needed to operate the lab
• Keeps accurate records on testing. Enters data into computer and files reports. Provides records and reports for transmittal to other CCWA personnel and regulatory agencies as required.
• Informs Water Plant Superintendent and/or Water Plant Operator of unsatisfactory test results or when indications of potential plant upset are evident or cause for concern.
• Performs other water and wastewater related duties as assigned
• Maintain laboratory and equipment in a clean, safe and efficient manner
Job Requirements:
• Obtain Drinking Water Analyst Certificate or Public Water Supply System Operator Certificate within one year of hire
• A valid Georgia Drivers license with a clean driving record is required
• A High School Diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. A combination of education and experience is acceptable
Company Description Carroll County Water Authority was formed in 1967 to furnish potable water to the various municipalities, individuals, businesses, residences, and other water users located in Carroll County, adjoining counties and states, to the extent such can be feasibly and economically served. Currently the Authority has approximately 20,000 customers. Also, the Authority operates a small sewer system within a gated community.
