Description

The work we do at the Kentucky Division for Air Quality has a direct impact on the health, welfare, and economic security of all Kentuckians. To ensure that economic growth occurs while preserving existing air resources, the Division for Air Quality conducts inspections regulated sources of air pollution to ensure compliance with applicable requirements at these important manufacturing facilities.
We currently have an opening for an Environmental Control Supervisor in the Division’s Field Operations Branch, Owensboro Regional Office Section. We are looking for someone who is a detail oriented and independent worker, but still enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. The preferred candidate will have time management and decision making skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position will provide you with the opportunity to work across branches within the Division and with the regulated community.
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Plans, assigns, and reviews work of air regional office employees
• Ensures that all compliance and enforcement activity is documented according to current standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Documents all staff's compliance and/or enforcement activity
• Receives and responds to citizen complaints regarding air quality in the region
• Ensures ambient monitoring network in the region is maintained and operated according to SOP

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural or physical science.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Four years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities, energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate study in the physical or biological sciences will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in natural resources, environmental control, mineral extraction, mining reclamation, mining inspection or regulation of mining activities (such as mine permit preparation and review, sediment pond and hollowfill design), energy conservation, energy development, energy management, blasting activities, or oil and gas well inspection will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
