Full Job Description JOB TITLE: Bartender
Reports To: Food & Beverage Manager
FLSA Status: Part Time Hourly; Non-Exempt
Summary:
Bartenders are responsible for serving guests liquor/beer/wine during events while ensuring all policies and procedures regarding alcohol dispensing are followed.
Essential Job Functions:
· Responsible for serving alcoholic drinks to guests following standard recipes and policies and procedures.
· Responsible for completing an accurate opening and closing inventory of product.
· Assures that the location equipment is operable and clean prior to start of; and at close of event.
· Responsible for arranging bottles to make an attractive display behind the bar.
· Responsible for checking identification of guests in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
· Maintain cleanliness of bar and surrounding areas utilizing sanitation procedures.
· Responsible for collecting payment and reconciling change fund at end of event.
· Responsible for recognizing guests that are visibly intoxicated and taking action to cut off alcohol to such individuals.
· Maintains sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas.
· Must show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
Qualifications:
· Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
· Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff and guest in a clear, business-like and respectful manner which focuses on generating a positive enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
· Possess valid food handling certificate and alcohol service permit if required by state and federal regulations.
· Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly.
· Ability to calculate basic math functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages) as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.
· Ability to speak, read and write in English.
Intellectual/Social demands:
While performing essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.
Physical demands:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will frequently operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, telephones, copy machines, faxes and printers. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and supervise the work of employees during events. Employee must constantly communicate via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee may occasionally be required due to business demands and event operations to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work environment:
The duties of this position are performed primarily in doors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and moderate to loud during event days.
