Oncology Hospitalist - Pediatric Staff Physician
PURPOSE OF POSITION: Advance your career in a dynamic team at the leading edge of innovative new approaches to the treatment and care of children with cancer.  Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, a 630 bed institution, is currently seeking a full-time Inpatient Pediatric Staff Physician Hospitalist for our specialized inpatient oncology unit.
Full time hospitalist rotate between day and night, holiday, weekend shifts covering the oncology inpatients.
To provide safe and effective medical care to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center patients. Follows care guideline and treatment protocols for infant; children and adolescent patients and to aid in their mental and physical growth and development. Participates in all department/division activities and initiatives. Maintains good standing in the department
Our inpatient pediatric staff physician hospitalist team works in close conjunction with the attending oncology physician to provide day-to-day management for complex and acutely ill cancer patients. Inpatient staff physicians work in the context of a multidisciplinary team with dieticians, pharmacists, social workers, care managers, child life, PT/OT, and nursing. In addition to the challenging and dynamic clinical experience, inpatient staff physicians have opportunities to participate in quality improvement, clinical guideline development and implementation, resident and medical student education, and clinical research.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
·Patient Care
Perform direct patient care of pediatric patients within the scope of the medical license, education and experience. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Examine patients to determine presence of disease and to establish preventive health practices. Determine nature and extent of disease or injury, prescribe and administer medications and immunizations. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment. May also plan and coordinate care, treatment and rehabilitation for discharged patients.

Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
·Development of Clinical Excellence
Actively participates in department/division and system learner training and educational programs. Maintains currency in field through continuing education, literature and seminars.
·Policy Compliance
Maintains good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Applicants should be board-eligible/certified in pediatrics or medicine/pediatrics. Hematology/oncology training or oncology background is not required. Training is provided. Obtaining an Ohio Medical License is required.
