Industrial Engineer Intern Project work: Assigned to specific department processes of the manufacturing plant. Conduct time/motion studies to collect data while observing manual and machine operations. Record detailed breakdown of specific steps in the process and assign time to each, and determine control point of the process when multiple steps are involved. Utilize Minitab application and Microsoft 365 services to organize data and analyze statistical significance of the distribution. Prepare a PowerPoint of data, observations, and recommendations to present to management. Activities will be guided by an Industrial Engineer established in the department. Additional staff with expertise in the specific process will be available to assist with questions of the process/mechanical expectations, etc. Requirements preferred: Basic understanding of definition of time studies. Basic understanding of definition of what a control point of a process is and how to identify it. Basic understanding of statistical analysis software, terms, and techniques. Experience utilizing Microsoft 365 services. Any additional knowledge will give opportunity for additional experiences more in depth with the project work. Full time student,or engineering related degree. Working environment includes laboratory, office, and as necessary in manufacturing plants. Part-time and/or full-time during the school year or summer, flexible schedule, and hourly pay. Work is project-oriented and upon completion of the internship, the student may present a project to East Penn team. Project work based on needs of department as well as skill set/major. Intern will work closely with engineers as well as manufacturing plant personnel to complete projects/tasks.
