Description:
The basic purpose of this position is to provide administrative and technical direction in relevant Virus Antigen Production area using Bioreactor technology in according to company policies and corporate business plans, to provide technical competence through proper selection and training of staff and the work force, to insure a safe work force and maintain compliance status (cGMP or similar , OSHA) within the department and to implement new technologies and strategies to reduce cost of goods and improve existing production processes.  The incumbent will represent the site's manufacturing interests to business contacts (customers, suppliers, auditors, etc.) internal and external to BI AH.

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Administration of company policies and safety program.
• Direct and supervise the manufacturing operations in order to produce Bioreactor derived high quality viral bulk products.
• Troubleshoot Bioreactor production problems, document findings, and implement solutions to resolve problems.
• Communicate to management the progress of the department, problems, employee actions, new ideas, and all other pertinent information.

• Train personnel in scientific principles, time management, GMPs, technical requirements, and all other policies and regulations governing the production of live and killed vaccines.
• Make recommendations to hire/ terminate personnel, and discipline personnel as needed according to policies and procedures.
• Interface with other department managers and employees in a professional manner to coordinate the activities and issues that pertain to biological operations.
• Complete annual reviews of all production outlines, special outlines, etc.
• Monitor departmental expenses.
• Ensures compliance with all regulatory, quality and environmental, health and safety, requirements for vaccine manufacturing and production maintenance functions.
• Accountable for ensuring that all manufacturing equipment is available for use and performing within all applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology or related field and a minimum of six (6) years’ experience within a GMP or GMP like biological vaccine and pharmaceutical production environment.
• Experience must be inclusive of a minimum of four (4) years in a leadership role managing people and projects.
• Networks cross-functionally to influence, understand, and translate manufacturing requirements of specified area.
• Shares expertise in a state of the art vaccine manufacturing facility.
• Strategic leader with influence to impact/improve processes in support of the business.
• Ensures that schedules, plans, equipment and resources are deployed to optimize cost, quality, delivery and compliance requirements.
• Coaches and develops others, grows talent, plans and organizes work, delivers results, manages conflict, innovates and demonstrates business and technical competence.
• Thorough understanding of ERP and automated process control systems; preferably SAP.
• Technical knowledge of production equipment and all operations necessary to produce high quality vaccines.
• Ability to evaluate and interpret data and formulate logical conclusions and recommendations.
• Excellent management, verbal and written communication, coaching and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead teams to achieve results.

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
